Up next Desert Thunder: Electric Vehicles Take on El Mirage Published on December 03, 2024 Author Rob Ward Share article Facebook 0 Twitter 0 Mail 0 A Million EVs: The Milestone That Marks a New Era in Automotive A Milli, A Milli, A Milli In 2023, US car buyers bought more than 1 million EVs for the first time in history. This is a massive milestone for the growth of the industry. It was not that long ago when there were less than 1 million EVs on the road in total across the US. 1 million EVS sold marks a 50.7% increase in sales year-over-year, signaling continued strong growth across the industry. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves; there are nearly 300 million vehicles on the road in the U.S., so while this milestone is massive, it’s just the start of what’s required to make a real dent in the auto market. Even though it’s early days, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) are jockeying for pole positions like Russel and Hamilton at the British GP last July. Recently, General Motors overtook Ford for the second spot in the U.S. EV sales, but make no mistake—Tesla still reigns supreme, leading the charge by a wide margin. Yet, the landscape is shifting. GM’s budget-friendly Chevrolet Bolt is giving them traction, while Ford’s flagship electric truck, the F-150 Lightning, faces its share of growing pains. As OEMs ramp up their EV production, they’re experiencing the usual aches that come with growth. It’s not all smooth sailing—battery recalls, production hiccups, and the ever-evolving technological landscape present unique challenges. But those same technological shifts are also opening doors for new competitors to grab attention and carve out market share. The race isn’t just about who can produce the most cars—it’s about who can innovate the fastest and pivot when necessary. As we hit new milestones, the pace of change is unprecedented. Every month brings a new development, and for those of us who thrive in this fast-paced, dynamic environment, it’s an exhilarating time. At EV Builders, we see this as a signal. We’re here to challenge the status quo—to push boundaries, create new products, and lead the charge in innovation. If as a builder, you find yourself frustrated with the complexities of new technologies, the pace of evolution in product lines, and the growth pains that accompany building not only cars, but also businesses as well, know you are not alone. Even OEMs that have been building cars for 100 years feel the pains of the massive growth we are all experiencing right now. We are all a part of making automotive history, hitting new milestones, and ushering in a new era of car builders. If this is your first time with us, welcome aboard. The game is moving fast, so grab a mitt and get in. Let’s build the future together.
