Bisi built his reputation crafting some of the most formidable internal combustion builds in the industry before taking a bold leap into electrification. His first EV project, a 1984 Porsche 935 K3V, wasn’t just an experiment—it was a revelation, turning a skeptic into one of the most respected voices in performance EVs today. Bisi sits behind the wheel of Moby X, ready to take it for a drive. Have you ever started a conversation with someone and, within seconds, realized, “Whoa, this person knows their stuff”? Whatever the subject, you’re taken aback—possibly intimidated or simply impressed. That’s exactly what it’s like talking to Bisi Ezerioha. His depth of knowledge is immense, yet he never makes you feel out of place or overwhelmed. Instead, every interaction with Bisi leaves you enriched—whether it’s about cars, engineering, or even a fresh perspective on life. From Nigeria to America: A Journey Fueled by Passion Ndubisi Ezerioha, better known as “Bisi,” is a name that carries significant weight in the automotive industry. His first name means “Life is first,” while his last name translates to “The Ruler devours all”— both fitting for a man who prioritizes family and has, by all accounts, conquered the world of high-performance automotive engineering. Bisi’s story begins in Lynwood, California, but his formative years were spent in Nigeria. At seven, his family returned to Obodoukwu in Southeast Nigeria, where he completed his primary and secondary education. At 14, he took the JAMB examination and earned university admission at just 15. Initially pursuing petrochemical engineering—an industry in which Nigeria is a global leader—Bisi planned to complete his education in America and return home to support his family’s business. However, fate had other plans. The dashboard features a houndstooth-patterned keyhole trim that matches the seats. front bay showcases the battery pack along with dual EV charge ports. Bisi’s love for cars was evident from an early age—his first word was “car,” followed by “light,” perhaps a sign that a future in the electric vehicle industry awaited him. Despite his parents’ hopes that he would become a chemist and join the family’s cosmetics business, his passion for automobiles was unstoppable. Racing Roots & The Birth of Bisimoto Bisi’s hands-on experience with cars began in Compton, California, where he worked alongside family friends on cap changes and spark plugs. His first car, an ’88 Honda CRX, became the foundation of his racing career. By 1993, he had entered the street racing scene, and from the mid-’90s to the mid-2000s, he raced semi-professionally for American Honda, competing nationwide—where the name “Bisimoto” was born. Bisi poses with Moby X outside the shop, alongside his custom Bisimoto-branded trailer. After stepping away from racing in 2012 to focus on family, a friend recognized his distinctive style in the JDM world and encouraged him to apply it to Porsches. What began as an experimental transition quickly became a defining moment in his career, as Bisi’s fresh perspective and engineering expertise introduced a bold, innovative approach to Porsche builds. An EV Skeptic Turned Passionate Advocate If you had asked Bisi years ago if he would ever collaborate on an EV build, his answer would have been an emphatic “No.” He once saw the EV industry as a niche for “tree huggers.” However, he soon realized it was filled with true car enthusiasts who had simply found a new way to go fast, and his perspective shifted. “My first EV build was the 1984 Porsche 935 K3V,” Bisi explains. “Building ICE cars for major OEMs for years was my forte. When I built one for Hyundai and Harman Kardon in 2017, I had the unique opportunity to go to CES that year to display the 700hp Boosted SUV. I noticed that my OEM partners had tons of EV concepts on display.” The rear view showcases the design elements that connect to the instrument cluster’s styling. Recognizing the industry’s growing focus on electrification, Bisi saw an opportunity to continue working with his partners—but it required embracing EV technology. “In order to continue working with my partners, I decided to… reluctantly… build my first EV to understand the tech, and hopefully continue building auto show cars for them,” he recalls. What started as a reluctant experiment quickly turned into a revelation. The Acronym branding decal is prominently displayed as part of the design collaboration team’s work. “When the build was completed in 2018, I drove it for the first time, with half the battery pack, and fell in love with the acceleration, zero emissions capacity, and the absolute absence of lag (very typical in ICEs),” Bisi shares. “I immediately went from a detractor… to a performance EV advocate… overnight!” The side profile emphasizes the iconic “whale tail” spoiler, a tribute to the original Moby Dick race car. Bisi stands next to Moby X among his other project cars at Bisimoto HQ. Since then, Bisi has become one of the most knowledgeable builders in the EV space, redefining what’s possible in high-performance electric vehicles. Under the “Hood” of Moby X Among Bisi’s growing portfolio of EV builds is his reimagining of this legendary 1978 Porsche 935/78 “Moby Dick” race car. Built on a 1977 Porsche 911 Turbo chassis and featuring an authentic 935L “Moby Dick” body from the original molds, Moby X is where cutting-edge electric performance meets iconic motorsport heritage. The trunk houses the contactor box, controller, and an emergency shut-off switch for safety. The vehicle’s distinctive extended “whale tail” spoiler, a defining feature of the original Moby Dick, has been cleverly repurposed to house a fully integrated taillight cluster, blending functionality with classic design. The updated Championship White paint scheme, applied by Trending Auto Works, alongside a bespoke livery designed by Acronym, Raf Rennie, and RevSect, completes its transformation from its original dark color to a true “Moby Dick”-inspired white whale. Even the custom Speedhut instrument cluster on the dash played a role in influencing this refreshed aesthetic, tying modern digital precision to the car’s timeless racing lineage. Bisi refills the coolant after installing a coolant bypass. However, Moby X isn’t just about looks—it’s about performance. At its heart lies a 477kW (640hp) liquid-cooled AC three-phase induction motor, capable of revving to an astonishing 18,500 RPM. This powerplant is controlled by an AEM VCU200 controller, expertly tuned by Bisimoto, ensuring razor-sharp throttle response and seamless power delivery. The vehicle’s energy is stored in dual custom battery boxes, housing LG Chem batteries, providing a range of approximately 150 miles per charge with a total capacity of 64kWh. Charging is made convenient with both J1772 standard and CHAdeMO fast-charging ports, allowing Moby X to adapt to various charging infrastructures with ease. Handling and stability are equally refined, thanks to KW V3 coilovers with an HLS2 front CUP lift kit, which provide both track-ready performance and practical clearance for road use. An ARCE chromoly 4-point cage ensures safety and chassis rigidity, while StopTech Level 3 big brakes (332mm front, 328mm rear) offer immense stopping power. The CSF GT3 center radiator and dual compact dual-pass oil coolers keep the motor, inverter, and battery temperatures in check, ensuring optimal efficiency and longevity. The Speedhut instrument cluster inside the car served as inspiration for the vehicle’s updated exterior design. Rolling on Brixton Forged TR20 Circuit+ wheels—17×10 inches in the front and massive 20×12.5 inches in the rear—wrapped in Toyo RR tires (275/40ZR17 front, 325/30ZR20 rear), Moby X grips the road with confidence, ready to put its electrified performance to the test. A Driveshaft Shop axle setup ensures that all of its 640 horsepower is effectively transferred to the pavement. The front view of Moby X prominently displays the 9Eleven design headlights. Inside, the cockpit balances function and style, featuring Carbone door cards, a Momo Black Series Prototipo steering wheel, an NRG quick-release steering wheel hub, and a meticulously wired Rywire LV harness for clean and reliable electrical integration. The Racepak Smartwire PDM further refines the vehicle’s electrical management, demonstrating Bisimoto’s meticulous attention to detail. Moby X represents more than just an engineering marvel—it’s a symbol of Bisimoto’s relentless innovation. His work now includes the world’s first electric Porsche 935 to fully electric Rolls-Royce conversions and high-performance EVs for TV and private collectors. It’s now clear that Bisi is on a mission to create guilt-free, exhilarating mobility solutions for an evolving world. Beyond Cars: A Man of Style and Innovation If you’re not familiar with Bisimoto already, do yourself a favor and look him up on YouTube. His eloquent speaking style could easily land him a job as a podcast or radio host. His expertise and way with words have earned him multiple appearances on Jay Leno’s Garage, where even the legendary Jay Leno himself has admitted to learning a thing or two from him. The Brixton Forged front wheels add to the car’s aggressive stance. Beyond the automotive world, Bisi’s influence extends into pop culture and fashion. He has collaborated with Hot Wheels on seven different car features and recently partnered with the fashion brand Acronym for a launch event showcasing one of his latest builds. His distinctive aesthetic—seen in both the meticulous craftsmanship of his vehicles and his signature bow-tie ensembles at SEMA—has also led to collaborations with designers like Raf Rennie and Acronym founder Errolson Hugh. Follow Bisi’s Journey When asked why his website doesn’t have an “About” page, Bisi humbly explains, “I don’t think this is all about me—I want it to be about the product.” While you won’t find much personal detail on his own site, you can stay up to date with his latest projects by following him on Instagram (@bisimoto) and tuning into his “Tech 2sday” livestreams every Tuesday at 12 PM Pacific / 3 PM Eastern, where he engages directly with fans and fellow car enthusiasts. It’s the perfect opportunity to experience firsthand the knowledge, passion, and innovation that define Bisi’s work. The Momo seats feature a houndstooth pattern, which is also carried over to the dash keyhole, while a Toyo Tires partner decal is visible on the windshield. Bisi Ezerioha isn’t just an engineer, racer, or builder—he’s a visionary, redefining the future of automotive performance with precision, creativity, and an unrelenting drive to push boundaries.
